Can I keep my daughter rear-facing?
My daughter is 16 months old, almost 22 pounds and 32 inches tall. Her car seat (sunshine radian) is approved for rear facing up to 32 inches.
However, the seat is approved forward facing up to a height of 51 inches.
I’ve heard the rule that you can keep your child rear facing as long as there is one inch of “shell” above their head. My daughter’s head is nowhere near the top of the shell so why does the seat need to be turned around at 32 inches?
This same seat is sold in the USA without the height limit for rear facing. I also have a Britax Roundabout and I have the same problem. It says I have to turn her forward facing a 30 inches but the very same seat sold in the states can be used until 40 inches.

As long as she has room, she’s safer rear-facing than forward. They just put standards on to cover their butts if there is an accident.
