With all these new laws how can they allow a child ride on the back of a motorcylce?

Okay, we have uped the car seat law to be 80 lbs and 8 years old now and we have the Seat Belt law where now you can get pulled over for it. But….

On saturday, I was driving down the road and saw a guy on a motorcycle with a thin child about 7 years old, she was waving with one hand and holding on with the other. (no she wasn’t in a parade) they both had helments on.

With all these carseat laws, how can they allow a child ride on the back of a motorcylce where there is no seatbelt or child seat.

Now, I am not downing motorcylist. my point on this is how can they have such strict laws for a vehicle where your enclosed, as opposed to the letting a child on a motorcycle where they are completely exposed.

Let’s face it: laws DON’T MAKE SENSE. They are bought and paid for by special interest groups. (Did you ever put money into a C.D.? They tell you that if you ever take your money out before the end of the term, you must pay a penalty? If you ask why, they will tell you that Congress passed the law calling for the penalty. Yes, Congress did pass such a law, but it was the banks, credit unions and S & L’s that paid Congress to pay such a law.)
IF, IF safety was the issue, motorcycles would NOT be allowed on any highway because there is no enclosure to protect the rider. Add to that that most of those riding motorcycles do so recklessly (ever see them tailgating, weaving in and out of traffic, starting fast, and riding side-by-side?) A high performance motorcycle can reach speeds of more than 140 mph in 4 seconds. My car would not be able to get out of first gear in 4 seconds. A Mecedes, BMW or other high performance car can’t even get up to 60 mph in that amount of time. With a skilled rider, a motorcycle can come to a complete stop in about one fifth the distance of a car, which can come to a stop much quicker than a pick up or van, let alone a truck.
Yes, they are so strict about a child riding in a car, but that is also because a car is easy to catch. Let’s face it, for most places, tickets are the No. 1 source of revenue. You know they are not interested in safety: if they did, they would stop drunk drivers (they do in Germany), they would ticket the people who run through stop signs, run red lights, try to force people off the roads, drive fast to pass you then slam on their breaks, etc.
By the way, here in Wyoming there is no law to even wear a helmet!
